The sky cast golden light upon our faces while producing hues of orange, blue, and purple across the clouds. The wind howled and burned our exposed hands and cheeks, yet still we made a picnic and tried to hunker down. Like a kid in a candy store, I explored the landscape, hungrily taking it all in and snapping away before eventually retreating to the warmth of our makeshift den. My partner fed us sliced turkey then warmed my hands in hers, making a home even out of this most inhospitable place. We bundled up close and experienced the rest of the sunset together before calling it a day and heading back down the trail.
One of the most unexpected and sweetest moments on the farm was running into the goat herd that lives on the property. This all girl squad was happy to have us over for lunch, as they munched away without much hesitation or even acknowledgment that we were there. With names like Clover and Savanah, these little cuties made for some sweet moments, even posing on occasion for their close up.
